Recognizing and being aware of how to respond to a hazardous materials incident is critical for first responders. It helps ensure they are able to manage a potentially dangerous situation and can minimize risks and damage.
Our Hazardous Materials Awareness course is a five-hour, five-part online training that is designed to educate firefighters, EMS providers, and other emergency responders about hazardous materials. They’ll also learn how to properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and the Emergency Response guide, along with much more. It is currently available in the Fire-CE library.
Hazmat incidents happen every day and our first responders need to be ready to act. With this new course, firefighters, paramedics, and other EMS professionals will have the knowledge they need to keep themselves and the general public safe. We are excited to offer this important training!
Judson Smith, Medic-CE vice president
In the coming months, an eight-hour Hazardous Materials Operations course will be released that will continue to help firefighters and EMS professionals improve their skills when responding to hazmat incidents. Medic-CE also offers hazardous materials courses for non-uniformed personnel in the Workplace & Health Safety library.
